Embed2Scale Consortium Gathers in Oxford for Two Days of Collaboration and Innovation


On the 4th & 5th of February 2025, the Embed2Scale consortium convened in Oxford, UK, for a two-day plenary meeting, hosted at the Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics Clarendon Laboratory of the University of Oxford. This gathering marked a key milestone in the project’s journey, bringing together the project’s partners from academia, industry and research institutions to reflect on the first year of achievements and set the course for the next phase.

The first day kicked off with updates from the Work Package leaders, highlighting significant technical advancements, dissemination efforts and exploitation strategies. Discussions covered the latest developments in AI-powered embeddings, neural compression and geospatial data processing, emphasizing Embed2Scale’s contributions to making Earth Observation data more accessible, efficient, and scalable.

Breakout sessions provided opportunities for in-depth technical exchanges, focusing on cross-work package collaboration, upcoming project deliverables and integration efforts. The day concluded with engaging discussions on upcoming milestones and the project’s strategic positioning in the geospatial AI landscape.

The second day centered on future opportunities, including Embed2Scale’s participation in flagship events such as ESA’s Living Planet Symposium 2025, EGU 2025 and other key industry and academic conferences that will further amplify the project’s impact.

The team also explored ways to enhance communication, dissemination and exploitation, ensuring that Embed2Scale’s research reaches the right stakeholders and creates long-term impact.

Looking Ahead

As Embed2Scale enters its second year, the consortium is gearing up to showcase groundbreaking results, publish cutting-edge research, and strengthen collaborations across the Earth Observation and AI communities.
