Embed2Scale to Contribute to the ESA/NASA EO Foundation Models Workshop 2026
After a successful first edition in 2025, Embed2Scale will again take part in the second ESA/NASA EO Foundation Models Workshop. The event brings together the Earth observation and AI foundation model communities to advance scalable, trustworthy, and operational AI systems for EO, with this year’s programme focusing on benchmarking, multimodal modelling, efficient adaptation, and real‑world deployment.
Romeo Kienzler and Isabelle Wittmann from IBM Research will represent Embed2Scale in Huntsville, Alabama. They will contribute with a half‑day workshop, on May 22, titled “Building Scalable AI EO Workflows: TerraTorch Embedding Workflows & TerraTorch Iterate for Zero‑Invasive HPO and NAS Hands‑On Session.”
The session will introduce open‑source tools developed within the project, including TerraTorch for generating and working with geospatial embeddings and TerraTorch Iterate for zero‑invasive hyperparameter optimisation and neural architecture search. It will also feature a deep dive into the Forest Biomass Disturbance Monitoring use case presented together with project partner Damien Robert, from UZH. Participants will have the opportunity to work directly with these tools and explore best practices for automated, scalable, and standardised experimentation.
In addition to the dedicated workshop, Embed2Scale will contribute to other sessions on geospatial embeddings and engage with researchers and practitioners across the EO foundation model community.
