SUMMARY:IGARSS 2026
DESCRIPTION:Home » Error 404: Page not found\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNeural Compression for Cloud Analytics\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn August 9\, during IGARSS 2026\, Embed2Scale experts will deliver an introduction and hands‑on session on NeuCo‑Bench (https://github.com/embed2scale/NeuCo-Bench/tree/main)\, a benchmark framework that emerged from the 2025 CVPR EARTHVISION workshop (https://www.grss-ieee.org/events/earthvision-2025/?tab=challenge). NeuCo‑Bench is designed as an extendable\, community‑driven framework for evaluating neural compression and representation learning methods in the context of Earth Observation (EO)\, without requiring heavy compute resources. The growing volume and complexity of EO data calls for standardized\, scalable\, and reproducible tools that can assess the quality and utility of learned representations across diverse downstream tasks. NeuCo‑Bench and its associated Earth2Vec community (https://earth2vec.github.io)\, which grew out of the Horizon Europe project Embed2Scale\, address this need by offering a modular evaluation pipeline built around fixed‑size\, task‑agnostic embeddings. This enables researchers and practitioners to consistently compare neural compression methods. \n\n\n\nRead more

SUMMARY:Crop Stress and Yield Early Detection using Embeddings and Geospatial Foundation Models
DESCRIPTION:Home » Error 404: Page not found\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNeural Compression for Cloud Analytics\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n November 16 \n\n \n @ \n \n 3:00 pm \n \n \n – \n \n \n 4:00 pm \n \n \n\n\n\n\nCEST \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAgricultural production is continually affected by weather extremes\, which are likely to become more severe and frequent in the near future. This poses a threat to European food security by reducing crop yields and driving up food prices. Timely monitoring of crop phenology is essential for understanding and evaluating the impact of climate change on crop production. However\, the vast amounts of EO data from both optical and climate sensors present a computational and storage bottleneck. This webinar will showcase how we can monitor crop phenology at the country or continental scale by using embeddings rather than raw Sentinel-2/1 data. It will provide an opportunity to receive feedback from industry experts on best practices for leveraging the embeddings and geospatial foundation models in general for real-time agricultural monitoring. \n\n\n\nRead More

SUMMARY:Enhancing maritime domain awareness using AI and embeddings
DESCRIPTION:Home » Error 404: Page not found\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNeural Compression for Cloud Analytics\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCET \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe webinar\, organised by SatCen\, showcases how the use of AI and latent spaces with Earth Observation (EO) data could improve the current practices of Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA). The study introduces a methodology that\, instead of detecting vessels using original Sentinel-1 and -2 imagery\, uses highly compressed embeddings derived from TerraMind\, a Geospatial Foundational Model (GFM) developed by IBM and ESA. Relying on a dataset of 100\,000 balanced embeddings\, this work demonstrates that critical MDA tasks can be performed using embeddings that are up to 100x smaller than the original data\, with an accuracy aligned to the one obtained with original images. The study will show the application of the methodology  on a large scale area\, represented by the Mediterranean Sea.  The webinar will collect feedback from the audience\, in order to foster discussions on potential applications\, align solutions with user needs\, and encourage the adoption of the pilot’s outcomes to address real-world scenarios. \n\n\n\nRead More

Today’s global weather models generate km-scale forecasts at sub-minute resolution such as in the nextGEMS. Comprehending the vast volume of information requires intelligent compression methods. We share progress on how E2S methods enable the coupling of atmospheric models and Earth observation data through the utility of embeddings generated by deep neural networks. We demonstrate how atmospheric embeddings help predict land cover\, how they guide the generation of meso-scale cloud patterns\, and how Earth observation embeddings help to characterize the statistics of clouds over the past 25 years. \n\n\n\nRead More

SUMMARY:Forest biomass disturbance monitoring with Earth Observation embeddings
DESCRIPTION:Home » Error 404: Page not found\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNeural Compression for Cloud Analytics\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n November 16 \n\n \n @ \n \n 3:00 pm \n \n \n – \n \n \n 4:00 pm \n \n \n\n\n\n\nCET \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDuring this webinar\, Damien Robert (University of Zurich) will present the latest findings from the Forest Biomass Disturbance Monitoring use case.Forests are changing faster than maps can follow\, reshaped by storms\, fires\, pests\, and harvesting. While a growing number of methods can detect forest disturbances from satellite imagery\, near real‑time (NRT) forest disturbance detection and attribution remain challenging. Existing approaches are often designed for either detection or attribution\, rely on a single satellite modality\, or are framed as retrospective annual analysis.Building on tools developed in the Embed2Scale project\, the webinar will show how Earth‑Observation (EO) embeddings enable multimodal NRT monitoring of forest biomass disturbances from Sentinel‑1/2 time series. By working with embeddings workflows rather than raw imagery\, the approach can leverage relatively few labelled examples while lowering the expertise and compute barrier to applying modern deep learning methods.Aided by a new machine‑learning‑ready benchmark dataset\, the presentation will both quantitatively and qualitatively compare established methods with embedding‑based models on real‑world case studies\, and invite your feedback and expertise to shape the future of forest disturbance monitoring. \n\n\n\nRegister here
